What is Trivia Anywhere?

Trivia Anywhere is a free online trivia maker and interactive game platform. Hosts create live trivia games, interactive bingo, Q&A sessions, and Wheel of Words games in minutes. Players join instantly from any phone, tablet, or computer — no app download, no account, no sign-up required.

How do I create my first game?

Sign up for free at triviaanywhere.com/host/signup. Once in your dashboard, click "Create Game," choose your game type (Trivia, Bingo, Q&A, or Wheel of Words), add your questions, and click Start. Your first game can be live in under 5 minutes. You can also use a pre-made template from the template library to get started instantly.

How do players join a game?

Players visit triviaanywhere.com/play and enter the 4-character join code shown on the host's screen, or scan the QR code with their phone camera. No app download, no account, and no sign-up is required. Players join from any modern browser on any device.

Do I need to download an app?

No. Trivia Anywhere is 100% browser-based for both hosts and players. Use any modern web browser — Chrome, Safari, Firefox, or Edge — on any device. Nothing to install.

What game types are available?

Trivia Anywhere supports four game types: (1) Live Trivia — timed multiple choice, true/false, open-ended questions, and polls with a live leaderboard; (2) Interactive Bingo — custom cards, live caller, and automatic winner detection; (3) Q&A Sessions — real-time audience questions with upvoting and moderation; (4) Wheel of Words — a word puzzle game similar to Wheel of Fortune.

🎮Hosting a Game

How do I start and run a live game?

From your dashboard, open your game and click "Host Game." Share the 4-character code or QR code with your players. Use the Presenter View on a second screen or projector to show questions and the leaderboard to your audience. Advance questions manually or let the timer run out automatically.

How do I use the Presenter View?

The Presenter View is a full-screen display designed for projectors, TVs, and shared screens. Open the Presenter View from the host control panel — it shows the current question, countdown timer, answer options, and leaderboard in a format the audience can follow. You can open it in a separate tab or on a separate device.

Can I add images and videos to questions?

Yes. You can upload images for questions and individual answer choices, and embed YouTube videos directly in questions with optional start and end time controls. This is ideal for music rounds, movie clip rounds, or visual identification questions.

How does team mode work?

Enabling team mode automatically splits players into teams before the game starts. Teams share a combined score — all members' answers contribute to the team total. Use team mode for corporate team building, classroom competitions, or any event where you want collaboration over individual competition.

What are power-ups and how do I enable them?

Power-ups are special abilities players can use during trivia games: 50/50 (removes two wrong answers), Double Points, Peek (see answer distribution), Hint, Extra Time, Freeze (pause timer), and Shield (protect from elimination). Toggle power-ups on or off per game in the game settings before you start.

How do I join a game as a player?

Go to triviaanywhere.com/play in any browser, enter the 4-character join code the host shares, pick a display name and an avatar, and you're in. The whole process takes about 20 seconds. You don't need to create an account or download anything.

Can players join mid-game?

Players can join during the lobby phase before the game starts. Once the host starts the game, late joiners can still enter but will begin scoring from the current question onward. The host controls when the game begins.

What devices can players use?

Any device with a modern web browser works — smartphones (iOS and Android), tablets, Chromebooks, laptops, or desktop computers. Players don't need to download anything or create an account.

Can players choose a custom avatar?

Yes! When joining, players can search and select an animated GIF as their avatar using the built-in GIF picker. GIF avatars appear on the lobby screen, leaderboard, and winner reveal.

Is Trivia Anywhere free?

Yes. The free tier includes custom branding, lead capture, CSV export, power-ups, team mode, and up to 25 players per game — no credit card required. You can create unlimited games on the free plan.

What does the Pro plan include?

The Pro plan removes all player limits so you can host games with any audience size. It also removes Trivia Anywhere branding from the player experience, unlocks priority support, and includes all free tier features. See the full breakdown at triviaanywhere.com/pricing.

How do I upgrade or cancel my subscription?

You can upgrade, downgrade, or cancel your subscription at any time from your account settings. Cancellations take effect at the end of your current billing period — you keep access until then. If you need help with billing, email Support@trainer-toolbox.com.

Do you offer discounts for schools or nonprofits?

We offer special pricing for qualifying educational institutions and nonprofits. Email Support@trainer-toolbox.com with your organization details and we'll work out the right plan for you.

🔧Troubleshooting

Players can't join — what should I check?

First confirm the join code is correct (it's case-sensitive — all caps, 4 characters). Make sure the game is in "waiting for players" mode, not already started or ended. Have players try triviaanywhere.com/play directly in their browser rather than through an embedded link. If on a corporate or school network, ensure the site isn't blocked by a firewall.

The game is lagging or questions aren't loading for players.

Slow loading is usually a network issue on the player's end. Ask players to check their Wi-Fi or cellular connection, close other browser tabs, and refresh the page. For large events (100+ players), consider a wired connection for the host device for maximum stability.

A player's answer didn't register in time.

Answer submission requires an active internet connection at the moment of submission. If a player's answer didn't register, it's typically because their submission arrived after the timer expired on the server (which is the authoritative timer, not the player's screen). Scores cannot be adjusted retroactively, but you can increase the time limit for future games in the question settings.

I forgot my password — how do I reset it?

Go to triviaanywhere.com/host/login and click "Forgot Password." Enter your email address and you'll receive a reset link within a few minutes. Check your spam folder if it doesn't appear. If you're still locked out, email Support@trainer-toolbox.com.

My game data isn't showing up in results.

Game data — including player responses and scores — is saved automatically when a game ends. From your dashboard, click on any past game to see the full results and export as CSV. If a game was ended unexpectedly (browser crash, navigation away), some data may not have been saved. Contact support if you believe data is missing.

🔒Account & Data

How long is my game data stored?

Game data (player results, answers, scores) is stored for 90 days after the game ends. Your game configurations (questions, settings, branding) are stored indefinitely while your account is active. Contact support if you need extended data retention.

How do I delete my account?

Go to Account Settings and click "Delete Account." This permanently removes your profile, all games, and all player data. This action cannot be undone. If you'd like help exporting your data before deleting, contact support first.

Is my data secure?

Yes. Trivia Anywhere uses industry-standard encryption for data in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and at rest. We do not sell or share your personal data with third parties. See our full Privacy Policy at triviaanywhere.com/privacy.
